Candle Care

Want to get the most out of your candle? See some tips below for the perfect burn.

On your first burn keep your candle lit for at least 3 hours so the melted wax reaches all edges of the candle jar to achieve a full melt pool and avoid tunnelling and being left with a "memory ring".

Always trim your wicks to ¼” (5mm) to avoid unnecessary sooting and mushrooming of the wick. If your wick is too long, you might notice that it uses up the candle wax faster, or may see soot or smoke appearing.

Never leave a lit candle unattended and keep away from children, pets, air drafts and anything that is flammable.

Blow your candle out gently or use a snuffer when extinguishing it to avoid splatter. We recommend burning for no more than 4 hours at a time. When it gets towards the end, swap your candle out for a new one when 1/2 an inch of wax remains.

Perfectly Imperfect...

The wax we use is 100% soy wax which creates beautiful, clean candles with a great scent throw without releasing toxins into your air. The beauty in using natural clean ingredients is that they possess certain qualities you won’t find in mass-produced candles, allowing them to burn cleaner and longer than non-plant based waxes such as paraffin.

Due to the nature of the wax you might notice slight variations in colour or dimples on the surface after burning, which are all indications of natural products being used. We promise these beautiful characteristics of natural wax won’t affect the scent or performance of your candle and are a great assurance that only natural wax has been used. It is a small compromise to make for having a slow-burning, beautiful clean wax that doesn’t produce nasties in the air like other candles you may find on the market.

How do I burn candles safely?

We only want a raging fire in our hearts, not in our homes!

Here are some tips for burning your candles safely.

1. Never leave a lit candle unattended.

2. Never burn a lit candle on or near anything that is flammable and could catch fire.

3. Keep candles away from children and pets.

4. Extinguish the flame if it becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Trim the wick before re-lighting.

5. Wait until the flame extinguishes completely and clears off smoke before replacing the lid.

6. If there is a chance you might doze off blow your candle out immediately.

7. Keep your lit candles away from drafts, air vents and fans.

8. Blow your candle out gently or use a snuffer when extinguishing it.

How do I prevent my wick from smoking?

Always trim your wicks! After your first burn use a pair of scissors or a wick cutter to trim your wicks for a steady, ash-free burn. Wicks should be 1/4 inch long (5mm).
